Age Verification Policy
Applies to TrailheadDays (Canada). This policy explains our minimum-age rules, how we gate/verify age, and what we do if underage use is suspected.
1) Minimum Age (Canada)
You must be at least the age of majority where you live in Canada to create an account or use features that require registration. The age of majority is 18 in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, and 19 in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon.
2) Our Age-Gating & Verification Approach
- Age gate: we may ask for your date of birth (or confirmation of age of majority) at sign-up or before accessing certain features.
- Risk-based checks: we may use signals such as account activity, support reports, or inconsistent profile information to identify potential underage use.
- Verification requests: we may request additional information to confirm age (for example, a government-issued ID or other documentation). If requested, provide only what is necessary; you may redact non-essential details.
- Data minimization: if we review identity documents, we aim to verify age and retain only the minimum information needed for compliance, security, and audit purposes.
3) If We Suspect Underage Use
If we believe an account may be used by someone under the age of majority, we may:
- restrict access while we investigate;
- request age confirmation or documentation;
- suspend or close the account if age cannot be confirmed or if underage use is confirmed;
- remove content or activity associated with the underage account where appropriate.
4) Guidance for Parents & Guardians
- Use device and platform parental controls to limit app/website access and purchases.
- Review browser privacy settings and account security settings (password managers, multi-factor authentication where available).
- If you believe your child has used TrailheadDays, contact us so we can review the account and take appropriate action.
5) Enforcement
We enforce this policy through age gates, verification steps, and account actions up to and including suspension or closure. Attempts to bypass age restrictions may result in permanent loss of access.
